What to do and see in Budapest - Family Holiday

We had an amazing family holiday in Budapest, and each time I go I fell in love with the city even more. After having such a great time, I can only say that Budapest is a kids paradise, and I can not stop thinking of how happy my kids were and the great time we had. I am more than happy to share with all of you of what to do and see in Budapest if you are going on a family holiday with young kids. We have spend 9 days in Budapest, and there is still much more to explore. Keep reading to discover all the great ideas I have for you. 

Hungarian Natural History Museum

This museum was very close to where we were accommodated, so it was a great idea to visit it on a rainy day. We went around 10 in the morning. There were a lot of parking places and a nice park around. We bought the ticket for a around 14 euros for me and my husband, and for kids under 6 years of age it was free. The museum was interesting, and had few levels to explore. 

Within its walls, the museum houses an extensive collection of artifacts, documents, and artworks that span centuries of Hungarian history. From the prehistoric era to modern times, the exhibits offer a comprehensive overview of the nation's past, providing a deep understanding of its cultural, political, and social development.

You can witness the ancient treasures of the Magyar tribes, delve into the medieval period of kings and knights, and unravel the intricacies of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The museum's interactive exhibits, multimedia presentations, and engaging storytelling techniques ensure an immersive and enlightening experience for visitors of all ages.

 Elevenpark - Children's amusement park



The destination for our second day was Elevenpark. A kids paradise!. It is an indoor playground with a lot of amusements for the kids. There are different slides, jumping castles, motorcycles, balls, trampolines, climbing walls and much more. It is a great place to take your kids.  Located in the heart of the city, this vibrant attraction offers a wide array of activities and challenges that cater to various interests and skill levels. A dynamic and adrenaline-fueled experience. With its welcoming atmosphere and emphasis on safety, it is the perfect destination for families, friends, and adventure enthusiasts seeking an unforgettable day of fun in Budapest.

Városliget - City park

Városliget, also known as the City Park, is a magnificent green oasis nestled in the heart of Budapest. It offers a serene and picturesque escape from the bustling city streets. The park's lush landscapes, tranquil lakes, and majestic trees create a soothing ambiance, inviting visitors to relax and unwind. Városliget is also home to several iconic landmarks, including the Vajdahunyad Castle and the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, adding a touch of architectural splendor to its natural beauty. With its abundant recreational facilities, charming walking paths, and vibrant cultural events, Városliget is a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike, providing a perfect blend of nature, history, and leisure in Budapest. It is a great place to take an enjoyable walk, or take the kids to the best playground I've ever seen.


Pancs - Gasztroplacc - Gastronomy market



I was really looking forward of visiting this gastronomy market. A small place that offers variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, and homemade things. Visitors can indulge in a wide range of flavors, from traditional Hungarian delicacies to international cuisines, all prepared with fresh and high-quality ingredients. The vibrant atmosphere, live music, and communal seating create a lively and social dining experience. Pancs - Gasztroplacc is a must-visit for food enthusiasts looking to savor the gastronomic delights of Budapest in a vibrant and convivial setting. We bought some beetroot spread, chili sauce, some protein seeds jar, honey and some cheeses. 

Visegrad

Visegrád, a charming town in Hungary, is a historical gem nestled along the banks of the Danube River. With its rich medieval heritage and breathtaking natural surroundings, Visegrád offers a captivating experience for visitors. The town is renowned for its iconic Visegrád Castle, a medieval fortress that provides stunning panoramic views of the Danube Bend. Nature enthusiasts can explore the nearby Pilis Mountains or take a scenic boat ride on the Danube. Visegrád's quaint streets, cozy cafes, and warm hospitality make it an enchanting destination that combines history, nature, and relaxation. I loved the time we spend here. We did a bob slide and we also had an amazing lunch with a great view. 

Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden

The most exiting day, was the day we went to the zoo. Fun for the whole family! The Budapest Zoo is a captivating destination that combines wildlife conservation, education, and family-friendly entertainment. The zoo boasts a diverse collection of animals from around the world. . The zoo's commitment to conservation and animal welfare is evident through its spacious enclosures and educational programs that emphasize the importance of preserving biodiversity. With beautifully landscaped gardens, interactive exhibits, and engaging animal presentations, the Budapest Zoo offers a memorable experience that fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural world. The kids loved seeing the animals, and even being able to interact with some of them.

Aqua world - family activity
